Cycling Career
I started cycling when i was around 12-years old. In the beginning we where just a bunch of friends riding together of fun. Then we joined a Club, Midtjyllands Mountainbike Club - MMC. In 1998 i did my first mountain bike races and I slowly got more and more serious about racing no my mountain bike.
I got selected for the national team first time in 2002 as a first year junior. The following year i got second place at the Europeans and my first international medal. Same year i was going for second also at the worlds but punctured and didn’t finish the race. The bad luck at the worlds followed me for some years but finally in 2007 I took the under 23 rainbow jersey. A really big achievement for me and a dream that came through. It is still the biggest win for me personally because it was some thing that i really work hard for, really wanted to win and because I'm really proud of the way I raced and kept believing in my self that day!
Teams
In the beginning of my career i was sponsored by a local bike shop, Schaufuss Cykler. I was riding on Cube Bikes for the first few years and then half a year on Nishiki bikes before I got spotted by Heijdens-Ten Tusscher team owner Jan Ten Tusscher after finishing 19th and 16th in the 2003 Houffalize and Fort William world cup races, as first year elite rider. Jan offered me my first contract and I started racing for his Heijdens-Ten Tusscher team half way through the season. I stayed with Jan Ten Tusscher and Ruud Roels from there on and race on Cannondale for the following three years. With the Cannondale-Vredestein team I got to race with some of the best mountain bike riders in the world. I got in 2008 selected for the Beijing Olympics on mountain bike which not really worked out the way i liked to.
Road
In the beginning I only used the road as training. As first year junior I did my first road races, but I only did 3 races that and the following year. In 2004 i stepped it up a little and did 5 road races that season. 2006 I then did my first of three season with Team Designa Køkken, but I still only used the races as a kind of training. In 2007 i got my first good results on the road, finishing 7th in the Tour of Denmark, third at GP tell and being selected for the worlds in Stuttgart. Last year I then got at bunch of good results on the road with the Tour of Denmark win as the biggest. Properly the biggest win in my career but for me the world championship on mountain bike is still ranked higher for me personally. In 2008 i also got selected for the Worlds in Varese and did in the end of the season two races as stagiaire with Team CSC-Saxo Bank, after I’ve signed a two year contract with them doing the Tour of Denmark. I had in total 18 race days on the road in 2008.
