I think that its about time to write a little update. I’m now sitting in Verona airport waiting on my flight to Vattenfall Classic. Its delayed by one and half hour so there should be time for at update. I have done a lot of racing since last time I have updated my site, so I'm gonna start from Tour of Slovenia which i did the week after Dauphiné.
Slovenia was a big success for me. After doing good in Dauphinè I had good form and showed it already on the first stage. Where I rode away from everybody on a first cat. climb 40 km from the finish and won the stage. In the end of four days racing I had points, mountain and yellow jersey and we also won the team competition so it was a really successful race.

A few days later was it time for the TT nationals. Here i ended up 3rd only 12 sec after three times national TT champion Lars Bak, and 4 sec. after Alex Rasmussen so it was really close and was happy with my own performance.
Three days after the TT, we had the road Nationals. The team cleared the podium like in the Time Trial but this time with Matti, Chris and Frank Høj as the three. A well deserved win for Matti who has been super strong in all the races I have done with him this year.

After the Nationals I had a small break and some time to charge the batteries for the last part of the season.

I started again with Sachsen Tour in Germany. It was for sure not my race. I crashed on first stage after 10 km when i followed in the wheel of a Greek, who tried to get in break away. He should properly have stayed home and learned to ride his bike before he went any where. because we ended up with the whole peleton on the wheel. Then he tried again and was sprinting like a maniac, just without the speed. but he managed to pull his foot out of the pedal so he crashed and I didn’t have time to avoid hes bike which suddenly was lying in front of me and then I was also flying through the air. Bad start and it didn’t really get that much better.

Sunday the 26th of July ended Sachsen Tour. Monday I did a criterium in Kjellerup close to my home town in Denmark and Wednesday started Tour of Denmark or Post Danmark Rundt as we call it in Danmark.

I wasn’t going to Tour of Denmark as captain. I just wanted the team to win it. But after Matti won first stage, Nicki won second and I won third and ended up in yellow I was of course keen on keeping it to the finish. Which I also managed to but only by a lead of 3 seconds to Mauricio Biondo, who did a phenomenal Time Trial and almost took the jersey after eating 26 seconds on me.
Still it was an amazing feeling to ride into a crowed Frederiksberg with the yellow jersey and defend my victory from ’08

Coming up is Vattenfall Classic Hamburg tomorrow, then Tour of Ireland 21st - 23rd and after that I'm going to do my first grand tour - Vuelta a Espana from the 29th.

Thats all from now...I’ll try to keep you more updated in the coming races...

The pix section has also been updated with some nice photos...

Dauphiné went really well for me and i finished 6th overall and also had some good stage results with two 5th places on hard mountain stages.
I would also like to thank you all for your greetings here and on facebook!

I now had a few days home after a very successful Volta a Catalunya. It wasn’t really expected that the team would do that well because we all came back from shorter or longer breaks. Stuart O’Grady was the one who had been out for the longest time and this was his first race since he crashed badly in Milano-San Remo. He anyway really showed that he’s back on track with a 15th place in the prologue, 5 sec. after Thor Hushovd. I finished in 42nd position 9 sec. down.
On stage 2 Matti Breschel then showed that he is also returning strong from his break, when he took the sprint victory.
On stage 3 it was then time from some more climbing with three first cat. climbs. the last top was only 7 km from the finish line, so when Valverdes Caisse d’Epargne was setting the pace on the last climb I gave it a shoot and attacked with 5 km to the top. Unfortunately for me the climb wasn’t that steep and there was a good head wind until 2 km from the top. I didn’t get more than 30 sec. gap and when the climb got steeper in the end the favourites came flying by. I just managed to hang on until Valverde sprinted over the top and i got dropped. The descent was pretty difficult and half way down I say the Olympic champion Samuel Sanchez coming from behind and together we closed the gap to the group with Valverde with 2,5 km to go. In the sprint i then ended up 6th.
Stage 4 went over 175 km and almost 4000 altitude meters and had the finish on Coll de la Bottella (Andorra) in 2030 meters. Again the stage went well for me even though I couldn't keep up with all the accelerations from Valverde and Gomez Marchante. Half the times i had to close the gaps slowly and I just made it back to the group with one km to go and then got dropped again after a few attacks. I ended up 8th on the stage and dropped one spot down in the overall to 6th.
The last three stages all ended with bunch sprints, the rest of the team was really active in the breakaways, Matti in the sprints and I kept my overall position.

Now I’m training hard so I hopefully can be even stronger in Dauphiné Libéré, starting the 7th of June.
